Most rubies have a strong red colour, their colours can range from blood-red to orangy-red, purple-red, brown-red, or even a pink-red tone.

African Rubies: Rubies were first discovered in East Africa. They come in various shades of red.

Afghanistan Rubies: Rubies from the Afghanistan region range from light-red to dark-red in colour. Rubies found in the Jagdalek are unique and these types cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Indian Rubies: They are mainly found in Mysore and Orissa. Indian rubies have cuts and colours that are unique and easily recognisable by experts, making them extremely attractive and valuable. Although not the brightest, Indian rubies usually come in a deep red colour.

Madagascar Rubies: The Rubies of this region are newly discovered ones. They come in colours including orange-red and even pinkish-red and do not require heating to be made into shapes. Rubies found in different areas of Madagascar have different properties.

New Burma Rubies: Found in Myanmar, they are some of the best quality rubies in the world. They are found in every shade from brownish-red to blood-red rubies. Some of them have a high amount of chromium and have a uniquely deep red colour, making them very sought after.

Old Burmese Rubies: They are usually flawless and worth a lot of money.

Sri Lankan Rubies: Even though a lot of rubies are not found in this region, the ones they do find are very stunning. They might be the next thing to Burmese rubies.

Tanzanian Rubies: Tanzanian rubies are comparatively darker, but they become lighter as use reduces their size. They are more affordable than other rubies.

Thailand Rubies: They are very dark and high in quality with a lot of chromium and iron present in them. Some even have a trace of brown in them. They are the second-most valuable rubies.

Vietnamese Rubies: They are similar to Burmese rubies, but the supply of rubies from this country is unpredictable.

Mozambique: Star rubies are found in Montepuez in the northern region of the country. They are not as high quality as Burmese rubies.
